What are your motivations to reach your health and weight loss goals? This is the fuel to your fire, so to speak, which helps to keep you moving towards your goals. Ideally, your goals have a strong urgency with powerful motivators behind them that stay strong over time.

Write a list of your specific motivators on a notebook, on your phone or computer, or anywhere you will review them daily. Let’s get specific. List the specific reasons why you want to achieve your goals.
Is your weight affecting your confidence, your ability to do certain activities, your ability to be active or exercise, fit into your clothes or live the life you want to live in any way? Are you on medications that may be related to your weight? Do you have a health condition and if you lost weight, you would improve, such as high blood sugar or blood pressure? Is anything else motivating you? If so, make a list and review it daily. This list is just for you with no one else to see it. So with that in mind, be specific, be personal, and make your motivators powerful and personal.

It’s important that your desire is strong and constantly fueled. By writing out your powerful motivators and reviewing them daily, it helps you to stay motivated.

Strong motivation is like a lever. Levers allow us to create big change, (through tiny habits) that compound over time. Levers make it easier for us to move in the direction of our goals. List as many levers or motivators as possible to spur you into action. Levers/motivators can be to avoid pain and loss, achieve a benefit/pleasure or a combination of both. For example, I may want to lose weight to reduce the risk of cancer (avoid pain), and flatten my belly (benefit) to improve my confidence and feel more attractive (benefit).

Take home? Motivation can be stoked by listing motivators and reviewing them daily to help you reach and maintain your goals.

Let’s get started. Take three minutes now and list your top motivators. Then strive to create a habit by reviewing your motivators one minute or more every morning as part of your morning routine. You can add or subtract to your list anytime you want.

The key is to simply get started by creating a list and a mini habit to review it daily to continuously fuel your desire to move in the direction of your goals. Strive to have a clear picture in your mind of what you want to look like and the type of health, energy and fitness you want. Review that picture once each day when you review your goals. Seeing a clear picture of what you want combined with a daily review of your motivators will help to spur you into action towards achieving your goals!

Have a healthy day!
