Artificial sweetener and cardiovascular disease risk

Artificial sweetener associated with cardiovascular disease risk.

A quick message about the sugar substitutes Erythritol.

A study came out a few days ago in the journal Nature, showing an association between erythritol and an increased risk of a major adverse cardiovascular event (3 year risk). Here is the link to the study if you’d like to read: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41591-023-02223-9

While it’s just an association (and just 1 study), and doesn’t show true cause and effect, I’d recommend being cautious and avoid Erythritol and products with it.

Many stevia products are blended with Erythritol and I would avoid those as well.
I personally strive to limit or avoid artificial sweeteners.

Instead I’ll add some fruit or cinnamon instead.
