Good afternoon,
How much aerobic exercise to do for weight loss? According to a recent study in the journal of the american medical association in 2024: https://jamanetwork.com/ journals/jamanetworkopen/ fullarticle/2828487#google_ vignette
For every 30 minutes of exercise, up to 300 minutes, weight was lost. Ideally, 150-300 minutes per week of moderate to vigorous exercise causes weight loss of about 5 to 10 lbs, respectively.
Food is the biggest driver of weight loss, but exercise can certainly contribute and has so many other health benefits. I exercise primarily for health, but it can contribute to weight loss. Now, we can ‘out eat’ our exercise by overeating, but if nutrition is generally consistent, the above results seem reasonable.
However, I have had many clients that have sought me out as they were exercising consistently, but not losing weight, and by modifying their nutrition, they started to lose weight. Each person is different, certainly.
Have a great weekend,
Kevin
