Eat the rainbow of colors each day in your meals and snacks to maximize your health!
Blues, reds, greens, purples, etc.
Colorful foods have plant pigments (colors) which have anti oxidants and may lower the risk of heart disease and some cancers.
For example, carotenoids have red, yellow and orange pigments and examples of foods are tomatoes, carrots and apricots and may delay aging.
Salads are an easy way to get a variety of colors:
– Romaine lettuce (green), purple, yellow or white onions, tomatoes and radishes, yellow, green, orange or red bell peppers, green or purple cabbage, shredded broccoli (bluish tint), carrots (orange), and a variety of other veggies.
Mixed berries include red raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, and (red) strawberries. I buy a bag of organic frozen mixed berries each week plus fresh berries.
