How sleep affects hunger?

weight loss | Nutrition Coaching Center

Good day!

Does inadequate sleep affect hunger? Yes, it can.

According to this paper: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9031614/

A lack of sleep can increase hunger by 24% and increase a desire for high calorie, concentrated foods by 33%.

I noticed this recently as I was sleeping about 4-6 hours per night for a few days and my cravings went up.

Aim for 8 hours per night if possible.

I have to turn the electronics/phone off by 10pm for my best chance of getting adequate sleep.

How about you?

Have a healthy day!
