Can you lower cholesterol naturally? Yes!
How? By reducing saturated fat in the diet. Saturated fat can come from both plant and animal sources. From animal sources, it is found in fatty animal products such as full fat dairy products including ice cream, whole milk, full fat yogurt cheese, and butter. Also found in fatty meats like bacon, sausage, and roast beef. Saturated fat is typically solid at room temperature, like the white marble looking fat in red meat and pork, the yellow fat in poultry and the white fat in fish.
In plants, saturated fat is found in higher amounts in palm and coconut oil. Nuts have small amounts of saturated fat and on average, a 1/4 cup of most nuts are only 1-2 grams of saturated fat.
Aim to keep total saturated fat down to 10 grams or less per day if looking to reduce cholesterol naturally!
Have a healthy day!
